Themed environments for Boulevard World

Design and fabrication for themed spaces at Boulevard World in Riyadh — scenic environments, interactive and immersive activations and story-led layouts, engineered to survive long public runs and be serviced easily.

Designing for a themed destination

Boulevard World is a themed entertainment destination in Riyadh, organised into zones inspired by countries and cultures from around the world, and is a major part of the Riyadh Season programme. Spaces here are judged as places to explore: visitors expect architecture, sound, light and detail that tell a story, not just a branded booth.

That changes the brief. A themed pavilion or attraction at Boulevard World needs a clear narrative, a route through the space, materials that read convincingly at close range, and technology that keeps working through weeks of daily operation. Maintenance access, spare parts and cleaning are as much a part of the design as the look.

We take on these projects as an independent design and fabrication partner to brands, agencies and zone operators, working within the site operator's design guidelines and approval process.

What we create for Boulevard World briefs

Themed environments

Façades, streetscapes, interiors and props that carry a theme convincingly from distance to arm's length.

Scenic fabrication

Sculpted foam and GRP-style finishes, timber and steel structures, scenic painting and ageing produced in the workshop.

Interactive activations

Touch, motion and sensor-triggered moments, games and photo experiences linked to content and lighting.

Immersive AV

Projection, LED, spatial sound and show control that turn a space into a timed or ambient experience.

Spatial storytelling

Visitor routes, reveals, pacing and wayfinding designed around the story the zone or brand wants to tell.

Maintenance & serviceability

Access hatches, replaceable panels, durable finishes, spares and a maintenance plan for long public runs.

From concept to long-run operation

The Concept combines spatial design, scenic fabrication, AV integration and fit-out in one team, so the creative intent and the practical detail are resolved together. That matters most on themed builds, where an attractive render can fail on site if access, durability and cleaning were not designed in.

We hand over with as-built drawings, operating notes and a maintenance schedule, and can support the space through its operating period.

How a themed environment project runs

  1. 1. Story & brief — Theme, narrative, audience, footprint and the operator's guidelines.
  2. 2. Concept design — Mood, spatial layout, visitor route and 3D visuals.
  3. 3. Technical design — Structure, materials, AV and interactive specifications, maintenance access.
  4. 4. Approvals — Drawings and method statements for operator review.
  5. 5. Fabrication & install — Workshop production, scenic finishing, installation and show programming.
  6. 6. Handover & care — Testing, documentation, operator training and maintenance support.

Boulevard World themed builds — common questions

How is this different from a standard activation?

Themed environments are built to be explored and to run for weeks. They need narrative, scenic detail and maintenance planning that a short pop-up does not.

Can you integrate interactive technology?

Yes — sensors, touch, projection, LED, sound and show control, tested as a system and documented for operators.

How do you keep it looking good through the season?

We specify durable, cleanable finishes, design replaceable panels and access points, provide spares and agree a maintenance routine.

Do you work directly with the site operator?

We work for the brand, agency or zone operator who appoints us and submit drawings through the site's approval process.
