Architectural lighting, media façades & projection mapping

We design and produce light for buildings: colour-changing façade illumination, dynamic LED media façades, large-scale projection mapping and synchronised architectural light shows. That covers one-night shows for seasons, national occasions, destination openings and property launches, and permanent lighting or LED installations that run every evening — with original content, media-server programming and show control built around the architecture.

Light designed around the building

Architectural lighting starts with the building, not the fixture. We assess the façade — its materials, colours, glazing ratio, depth, joints and the places people will see it from — and design the light and content to suit. A stone heritage wall, a glass tower and a mesh-clad car park each need a different approach: grazing and washing light for texture, pixel-mapped LED for motion, or projection where the surface and viewing distance allow it.

Temporary shows and permanent installations are planned differently. A one-night or season-long projection or light show is about rigging positions, projector or fixture hire, power, rehearsal windows and a clean removal. A permanent façade or LED installation is about fixings, cable routes, weather and heat exposure, control systems that the building team can run, and maintenance over years. We scope each one on its own terms and say clearly which applies.

We lead the creative, content, show-control and production side and coordinate the whole project. Structural assessment, electrical design and connection, high-level access and specialist installation are delivered with qualified partners where the building needs them, working to the owner’s and authority requirements.

What we deliver here

Façade & architectural lighting

Colour-changing washes, grazing, accent and outline lighting designed to the façade’s materials and the views that matter, with scenes and schedules for everyday and special occasions.

LED media façades

Design and integration of dynamic LED façades — pixel pitch and layout chosen for viewing distance, content resolution and the building’s structure — from concept through commissioning.

Building projection mapping

Large-scale projection mapped to the façade’s geometry, plus projection onto mesh or scrim where the site suits it, with projector positions, throw distances and brightness planned against ambient light.

Original content & show control

Animated content created for the building, media-server programming and timecode show control that keeps lighting, LED, projection and sound in sync.

Synchronised architectural light shows

Light shows for openings, seasons, national occasions and property launches, rehearsed on site and run to a cue sheet on the night.

Commissioning, handover & maintenance

Testing and commissioning, operator training and a handover pack for permanent systems, with maintenance scoped and agreed per project.

Immersive & interactive rooms

Projection mapping, interactive LED floors and walls, multisensory effects and content playback for visitor experiences.

AV, LED & lighting

LED walls, projection, sound and lighting specified to the content and space, installed and tested before doors open.

Concert production

Stage, LED, lighting and audio production planning plus scenic and branded elements for promoter-led concerts.

Festival production & scenic builds

Entrances, scenic installations, VIP lounges, backstage fit-outs and wayfinding for festival sites.

Launch events

Product, hotel, retail and development launches with reveal moments, staging, media areas and guest flow.

Government & corporate ceremonies

Inaugurations, signings, foundation-stone and national-occasion ceremonies with protocol-aware staging.

How a façade lighting project runs — and what to send us

Each project moves through discovery and site survey; façade, material and viewing-distance assessment; lighting and output design; content development; structural, electrical and access planning with specialist partners; testing and commissioning; operator handover; and maintenance where it is part of the scope. Temporary shows compress these into a production schedule with on-site rehearsal; permanent installations add design approvals, installation phases and documentation.

A useful enquiry includes: the building or site and its location; whether the work is temporary or permanent; approximate façade dimensions, with elevations, site drawings or photos; the content or story you have in mind, or whether you need it created; your desired dates; and an indicative budget. Owner or landlord contacts and any known authority requirements help us plan the survey.

A documented industry example is Kingdom Centre in Riyadh. Lighting brand Color Kinetics features its architectural illumination in its project showcase, iDEA & Associates presents a multimedia LED façade project for the tower, and engineering firm Cundall documents “Pulse of Light” for Noor Riyadh 2022, which began with video projected onto an invisible mesh in the tower’s void. We cite it to show what façade lighting and projection can achieve; The Concept did not work on those projects, is not a supplier to the building and does not sell its display or media time.

How we work with you

  1. Brief — Share the event type, site or venue, dates if confirmed, audience and objectives.
  2. Site & rules check — We review access, power, rigging and the organiser or landlord rules that apply to this site.
  3. Design & proposal — Concept, 3D visuals and an itemised proposal so scope and cost are clear before commitment.
  4. Production & logistics — Off-site fabrication, technical preparation, transport and crew scheduling planned around the site window.
  5. Install, operate, dismantle — On-site build, testing, show support and a planned breakdown with the site handed back as agreed.

Frequently asked questions

Can you project onto any building?

Many buildings work well, but not all. Light-coloured, matte surfaces with clear geometry map best; dark glass and highly reflective façades usually suit LED or architectural lighting better. A site survey with viewing positions and ambient-light checks tells us which approach fits.

What is the difference between a temporary show and a permanent installation?

A temporary show uses hired projectors or fixtures, temporary rigging and power for a set run, then is removed. A permanent installation is fixed to the building with its own control system, designed for long-term weather exposure and handed over with training and a maintenance plan.

Do you create the content?

Yes. We create original animated and mapped content for the building, and can adapt your brand or campaign material. Content is designed around the façade’s geometry and the audience’s viewing angle.

Who handles structural, electrical and high-level work?

We coordinate it with qualified specialist partners for structural assessment, electrical design and connection, and rope-access or high-level installation, working to the building owner’s and authority requirements.

Can the show include drones, fireworks or lasers?

Those elements need their own licensed operators and permissions, so they sit outside this service. If your event includes them, we can share our timecode and cue plan with the appointed operator so everything runs to one schedule.

Do you need permission from the building owner?

Yes. Any work on or aimed at a building needs the owner’s agreement, and public sites may need authority approval. We prepare the drawings, method statements and technical information those approvals usually ask for.

How do we get a quote?

Send the building, location, temporary or permanent, dimensions or drawings, content idea, dates and budget through the form. We reply with survey questions, then a concept and an itemised proposal.

Do you have an office or workshop in this location?

Our head office is in Manama, Bahrain, and we run Saudi projects with production capability in Riyadh. We plan delivery to each location project by project — travelling crews, transport and local suppliers where needed — rather than claiming a local office.
